Lies Are Invisible

                             1
Lies are becoming truth / truths are turning into liesThe sacred is profane / the profane sacred
Opaque windows disguise the lightWe have entered the age of inverted nothingness
Nothing is left of the thread of reasonThe scissors of confusion snip busily away
At that which makes sense / made sense /
Or that which would have made sense

Morality is crowned obscenelyImmorality becomes the victorIn deplorable overcrowded conditionsOf competing fractured moralitiesOne cannot speak a straight sentenceStraight thought / straight truthWithout it becoming twisted and transformedBefore the arrow even reaches its mark

2We descend into the pit / Humanity’s trail spirals
Downward into the place without lightDefeat follows defeat / the past rises upIts ghostly ghastly hands sure to strangle all
Every effort at rebirth is killed a-bornin’Righteousness itself is suffocated
Inside the womb of goodnessJustice faces abortion before birth

Imagine and hear! the voices of the prophetsThey who spoke words of wisdomThey who heard from afar and communed with spiritsThey who told that God had spoken unto them
To multitudes who believed / doubted / believedTo individuals who scoffed / laughed / rebuked To individuals who believed / listened / followedProclaiming them to be holy in a special way

3The dialectic of dialogue has been excisedAs a surgeon removes a piece of fleshThe classics left unread, music unheard,Pictures unpainted, sculptures unsculpted.

The exchange of reasoned wordsHas been swallowed in the fast-flowing streamOf visual images and commercialized monologues

Brains bombarded by thousands of frames-per-second

Hurried glib slick words of no importanceSqueezed between commercial onslaughtsOf violent flashy flashing images / illuminatingProfit greed avarice crime violence death

Glorifying the evil / exemplifying the negativeAccentuating the wrongfulness / injuring the innocentBesmirching the pure / defrocking one’s dignityAnesthetizing resistance / ridiculing integrity!

4Slogans that con, advertised or politicizedAttacking converting cajoling deceiving promising,
Worthless and pointless, vulgarly dashing hopes
Across the threshold of the void of nothingness
Lies are becoming truth / truths turn into liesThe sacred is profane / the profane covers itself
With sacredness / dirty windows disguise the light:

We have entered the age of inverted nothingness

Whether this poem is lie or truth I do not know--From the alchemists’ time of false hope for goldTo the Einsteinian wonder of an ancient universe
Ever young, aging yet ageless, ceaselessly changing
The world, infinite in motion and finite in time
Like words of old, once spoke, a fire to the coldThat soothed the soul with graceful rhyme:Poetic lines of Truth, invisible, never to be told.
